Ethnic Discrimination

Question: In Islam, what is the place of this endless ethnic discrimination allover the world?

A person’s ethnic origin and language are not of his choice, but Allah’s will. What belongs to one’s self, is what he has done. Allah commands:

“…And that there is not for man except that for which he strives.” (An-Najm/ The Star, 53:39)

“Surely the believers are none but brethren unto one another, so make settlement between your brethren, and have fear of Allah that you may be shown mercy. (Al-Hujurat / The Chambers 49:10)

Human beings! We created you all from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another. The most honorable among you in the sight of Allah is certainly the one who protects himself most from doing wrong. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.” (Al-Hujurat / The Chambers 49:13)

The following hadiths are narrated from the Prophet (p.b.u.h.):

“You cannot enter heaven unless you have faith, you do not have faith unless you like each other.”
(Muslim, Belief , 22 (54/ 93); Ahmad b.Hanbal , 2/ 391)

“… Outraged by the sense of ethnicity (tribalism), a deceased person’s death while fighting for the sake of ethnicity or under a blindly raised ethnicity flag/purview, then he has died a death of Ignorance Time.” (Muslim, Government, 57; Nasai, Tahrim, 28; Ibn Majah, Tribulations, 7)  .

All of these verses and hadiths clearly show that ethnicity has no place in Islam.
