Is non-alcoholic beer permissible?

Question: Is it permissible to drink non-alcoholic beer or champagne, or still forbidden although the amount of alcohol is trivial?

The amount of alcohol in non-alcoholic drinks may vary by country regulations. For example, non-alcoholic beers include less than 0,5% of alcohol in the US. What matters is not the ratio of alcohol in the drink, however. It is distinctive whether it makes you drunk when plenty of it is drunken. Because, there is this ruling based on the following sound hadith:

“The Prophet (p.b.u.h.) said: If a large amount of anything causes intoxication, a small amount of it is prohibited.” (Sunan Abi Dawud, Drinks, 3681)
