The Revival of Jews in Quran

Question: What is the meaning of “revival” in chapter al-Baqarah (the Cow), verse 56?

If you read the previous and subsequent verses as a whole, you will notice that the addressed people are the Jews. They are being told of the facts which their ancestors had lived through:

“Remember when you said: Moses! We will never believe you until we see Allah explicitly. Then you got struck by the lightning while you were looking about. Then We revived you after your death for that you would be grateful.” (2:55-56)

The phrase “We revived you after your death” means that their ancestors had not been gone out of existence after that incident. Their generations had again reproduced and reached to those days of our Prophet.
