Islam and the Quran

What is the sentence for directing our customers to bank credits(loans)?

Question: I am working at a car company. When our customers are going to buy a car, they are using credits from the banks or the finance houses. In one way to another we are directing our customers to those finance centers; so we work like brokers. Do we commit a sin? Also banks are giving commission to our company, and our company is giving us premium from what it gets from the banks. Is this kind of money halal (lawful/licit)?

Answer:

Not every transactions that we do through the banking system considered to be haraam(forbidden). As it is mentioned in the question, if you are guiding your customers to get credits/loans including interest-rates; or if you are doing your customers work related with interest; it is against the rules of fiqh(detailed information of islamic perspective). Mediation for  interest is not acceptable. If you are dealing with this kind of work, you should be careful about it.

Allah, the Almighty says:

Whoever intercedes himself for a good cause shall have a reward of it, and whoever intercedes himself in an evil cause shall have a (bad) share of it, Allah is repayer for everything. (Surat An-Nisā’ 4/85)

Another verse from the Holy Qur’an:

…cooperate in goodness and piety, do not cooperate in sin and aggression. Fear from Allah; Allah is severe in penalty. (Surat Al-Mā’idah 5/2)

For the last part of your question: Banks may give commission to your company, that should not be your concern as a worker there. You are getting paid for your work and for your efforts. The money that your company gets, goes to your company’s earnings. The premium which it gives to you is separate. But if you are so uncomfortable about this and if it is bothering your heart; maybe you should look for alternative job options. That is the only advice that we can give.
