Islam and the Quran

Who will enter the heaven

The Glorified Allah commands:
Those who believe; the Jewish, the Christians and the Sabians; whoever of them that believes in Allah and the Last Day and does good, their reward is with their Lord.  There is no fear for them, neither shall they grieve.” (Al Bakara 2/62)

Those who are reached by any messengers’ communication are only responsible from shirk-idolatry and the veracities they know. Those who are reached by any of the messengers’ communication have to obey them and live their life in compliance with these teachings. Being reached by the instructions of a messenger means to get to see the miracle of this messenger, in other words it means to see this messenger’s certification. Then, that person gets to understand the true unarguable knowledge as he had seen the messenger with his eyes. The certification of Messenger Mohammed (s.a.v.) is the Qur’an. People, who haven’t been reached by the teachings and verses of Qur’an in a language they understand, can’t be considered to have been reached by the messenger’s communications.

There are similar verses to the one shown above in the Surah Al Maida. Its full version is:

Say: O followers of the Scripture! You have nothing till you act according to the  Torah (Taurat) and the Injeel (Gospel) and that which was revealed to you from your Lord. (O Muhammad) that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will  increase their  rebelation and unbelief. So, do not sorrow  for the people who disbelieve.

Surely those who believe; the Jews, the Sabians and the Christians whosoever believes in Allah and the Last day and does good– they shall have no fear nor shall they grieve.

Certainly We took the Covenant from the children of Israel and We sent to them Messengers. Whenever a messenger came to them with what that their souls did not desire, they denied some (of them) and killed some of them.” (Al-Maida  5/68-70)

There is another verse related to this issue:

“Those who follow the Messenger- the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written down with them in the Taurat and the Injeel, (who) commands them  the good –maaruf- and forbids them evil -munker. (Who) allows to them as lawful the good and prohibites as unlawful to them impure things. (Who) releases them from their heavy burdens and from the bindings that were upon them. So, those who believe in him and honor him and help him, and follow the Light which has been sent down with him, they will prosper.” (A’raf/ Purgatory 7/157)

The belief in Allah’s existence, His Oneness and the belief in the afterworld are present in the religion of Hebrews, Christians and Sabians. The expression ‘good actions’ mentioned in the verse varies according to people’s knowledge. As the previous verses states plainly, those ones who are reached by the communications and teachings of the last Messenger have to believe and to obey it by accomplishing the good actions defined there. Allah had taken a covenant from  the prophets in relation to this issue:

Certainly I have given you of the Scripture and Wisdom– then a messenger comes to you verifying that which is with you, you have to believe in him, and you have to aid him. He said: Do you affirm? Do you accept My heavy Covenant in this (matter)? They said: We do accept. He said: Then bear witness, and I (too) will bear witness with you.” (Al-i –Imran 3/81)

In conclusion the verse above should be understood this way:

Those who believe; the Jewish, the Christians and the Sabians (which have not been reached by the communication of the Last Messenger); whoever of them that believes in Allah  (without attributing a partner to Him) and the Last Day and does good, their reward is with their Lord.  There is no fear for them, neither shall they grieve.” (Al-Baqara 2/62)
