Islam and the Quran

Did Jesus come from the lineage of Isaac (Jacob)?

Saint Mary is of the descendants of prophet Aaron whose ancestors are Isaac and his father Abraham.

Allah the Almighty commands:

“Sister of Aaron! Your father was not an evil man, nor was your mother an unchaste.” (Maryam 19:28)

In Arabic language, ”sister of a person” is just a way of expressing that she comes from the lineage of that mentioned person. So, the expression “Sister of Aaron” clearly shows us that Mary comes from the same lineage as Aaron. (This idea also backed up by, at the Tafsir of Ibn Kathir as views from Alī ibn Abī Ṭālha and Ishmael As-Süddî. Locate: Ibn Kathir c: 5, s: 233; tahqiq: Seyyid Muhammad Seyyid, Vecih Muhammad Ahmad, Mustafa Fathi Abdulhakim, Seyyid Abraham Sadık. 1426/2005, Cairo.)

In the Qur’an, in Chapter Mary, after telling the story of Jesus, other prophets are mentioned. The related verse is as follows:

“Those were the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favors from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided to righteousness and chose to admire. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration weeping.” (Maryam 19:58)
