Question: Does taking injections or drips break the fast?
Turkish High Committee of Religious Affairs has the following opinion about injections and drips, which we also agree with:
“The injection may or may not break the fast depending on its purpose. Injections may be taken as painkillers, as part of a treatment, to increase the body strength, or to nourish. Injections that do not contain nutritives and that do not contain pleasure-inducing medication do not break the fast. However, injections that contain vitamins, nutritives or pleasure-inducing chemicals break the fast.
Drips and blood transfusion are also categorized similarly.”
