Question: I sometimes watch pornographic movies. I know this is a bad behaviour but i cannot quit it? How can i do? What are the consequences of this in Islam?
Porn and erotic movies spoil the religious and ethics principles of people, they leave irrecoverable effects on families and they are exactly opposite to human nature. Watching these movies are absolutely not permitted.
The Glorified Allah commands:
“Tell the believing men to restrain their eyes and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Surely, Allah is well aware of what they do.” (An-Noor/The Light 24/30)
Also our Prophet tells: “The fornication of eyes is looking.” (Bukhari, Istizan, 12) When this verse and hadith are evaluated together, “looking” is a factor that brings the person close to fornication. There is no difference between the thing being looked at be real or a movie, or a photo. Each of them is haraam (forbidden).
