Question: There are two different dates to start Ramadan but I do not know which one to go with. Can you please help?
The Quran Orders Complying with the Calculations About the Phases of the Moon
Determining the beginning of Ramadan or Shawwal, as well as Dhul-Hijjah, often causes conflicts in the Muslim world. The Qur’an leaves the calculations about Lunar Calendar to groups of scientists. Therefore, the new moon and the crescent of Ramadan, Shawwal, and Dhul-Hijjah must be calculated as long as we know how to make that calculation. For further details on “sighting the Moon vs. calculation”, please read the following article:

The Calculations About Ramadan 2026
According to astronomical calculations, the crescent of Ramadan 2026 will be visible with the naked eye for the first time over the Pacific Ocean on the 18th of February. The new lunar month will begin after the Moon sets in the evening of 18 February. Therefore, the first day of Ramadan will be February 19, 2026.
Warning
If the crescent sets before the Sun on a day, it cannot be called the “setting of the Moon on that day”, because the Moon did not rise and set after sunset on that day. When the crescent rises and sets, the day after it sets is announced as the first day of Ramadan.
