Does using suppositories break the fast?

Question: Does using suppositories break the fast?

According to Fiqh books, using suppositories breaks the fast but Allah describes fasting as refraining from eating, drinking and intercourse. Using suppository is not one of these. It is for the purpose of medical treatment and it does not enter the body from mouth or nose. Therefore, our opinion is that it does not break the fast. However, the purpose of using suppository should also be considered. If it is really for the purpose of medical treatment, than there is no problem. If it is for the purpose of supplementary nutrition, it should be avoided.
